China continues 🇨🇳

A long and winding road

China Zhangjiajie, China

China continues 🇨🇳

Hi again!

I have been on the road for a few days since last and been busy busy busy. I've traveled by train and i'm making my way down to hong kong (not there yet). I'm on a clock though since the national day of china is on the first of october and most chinese people will have a 1 week holiday then. Which means 1 billion chinese will be traveling around and it will be busy and expensive everywhere, not something I'm intrested in getting caught up in. So after leaving Chengdu which was my first stop in china i made my way down to Chongqing a small city of 30 million people which is well known for it's big car industry. I only stayed there for a day so didn't get to see much except it's massive size. But it was cool. After a day there I hopped on the train again to Zhangjiajie. A small city known for it's amazing nature and mountains. I spent two days here just experiencing it and it was amazing. The first day I went up Tianamen mountain. A mountain known for it's 999 step pathway to heaven. And after that pathway you take a lot of escalators to the to the top of the mountain and you walk around the top and enjoy the amazing view. Unfortunately for me it was very misty the day I was there so you could barly see 10 meters in front of view. But still a fun experience. The day after I went to what is known as the avatar mountains which is in another part of the city and that day there was no mist so you could really enjoy the view. The place is called the avatar mountains since they inspired the mountains the portray in the avatar movies. It's basicly 1000 meter tall pillars that are left standing after millions of years of erosion to the rest of the mountains. Don't know how that works when the earth is just about 5000 years old, but i'm sure there is an explanation.

I think the best part of this part of the trip was riding around in a small bus around these huge mountains. Because the roads are small, curvy, right on the edge of the mountain and driven by a bus driver that loves to drive fast. So every curve you survive makes you appreciate life a little bit more. If traffic in Thailand or Vietnam scares you, then I recommend a day in Zhangjiajie. Both the avatar mountains buses and the tianamen mountain buses are scary. But the roads are smaller, steeper and curvier on the tianamen mountain so those I would recommend the most! 10 out of 10 makes you shit your pants!

Now i'm continuing my journey to Fenghuang and then Guangzhou. So more updates coming soon!
